About
“laughs come thick and fast…definitely one to watch” Edinburgh 2011 Fest Mag review
“He engages with people masterfully and the whole thing feels impulsive and original” Edinburgh 2011 New Kid review
“charming and thoughtful” – Spoonfed
Stuart Laws writes and performs sketch comedy and stand-up comedy. His stand-up involves “boundless energy” and telling stories that weave material in with improvised audience interaction. Observational and surreal, “it’s difficult to tell where the act ends and the improvisation starts”.
“very funny” – The New York Post
He regularly performs 10-20 spots and has compered a regular gig for the past three years. When starting out he was a Reading New Act finalist two years in a row and was a Laughing Horse New Act semi-finalist in 2011.
“the Energiser Bunny… warm and daft… perversely endearing” – The Londonist
He gained minor YouTube celebrity with an online sitcom: Becoming Batman, performs as one half of sketch act Apocalypso! and started stand-up in September 2006. He has performed up and down the country, including his fringe show, Unweaving Rainbows, with James Mason in August 2010, that was reviewed here. His Edinburgh Fringe 2011 show It’s Two O’ Clock Live At Two O’ Clock, which was reviewed here and here. He can also drive – this does not affect the laughter he can/cannot create.
“my comedy hero” – Richard Rycroft (Hackney New Act Finalist, Laughing Horse Special Commendation etc)
